Plein Air Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Morning Clouds at Amity Hall'
Oil  9 x 12

Last week we had a beautiful morning to paint along the
shore of the Susquehanna River at Amity Hall.  The weather
was cool and breezy, and while our group (Susquehanna Valley
Plein Air Painters) was there we saw a bald eagle, egrets, several
great blue herons and an osprey.  Hmmm... doesn't take much
to figure out why I love plein air painting!

I LOVE this painting! You absolutely captured the day -- from the rolling clouds and the moving, sparkling water, to the cool sense of the temperature with all your blues. And the distant hills are so soft. Very nice.

'Capturing the day' is what I think plein air should be and this painting does just that.

Great painting, Claire. You are truly a plein air painter.
