MY NEIGHBORS' POPPIES By Cecelia Lyden

acrylic on panel

8x10

Last Sunday, I noticed that my neighbor's poppies were finally starting to bloom. The long range forcast for the following week was showers every day. I called Julie and we decided to paint the flowers the first day the sun was shining. That Monday there was some sunshine. Julie came over after work that afternoon and we painted for about 3 hours. We even needed to apply sun lotion. The rest of the week it poured buckets. "Carpe diem,"everyone.

Cecelia, I am so glad you got to paint these beautiful poppies before the heavy rains destroyed them. With the weather we have been having lately, we have to find those moments to paint between the raindrops.

You did a really nice job with those fuzzy pods.
