New Cumberland Library Reception

Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters held our reception for the New Cumberland Library show on Saturday May 7th.  Most of the members who were showing work attended and it was also nice to see a few additional members show up to support the rest of the group.  If you did not have a chance to see it the show will be hanging through the month of May.  There are about 30 paintings hanging which show the talent and diverse painting styles of the group.  It is worth seeing...an impressive collection of work.

Thanks to all who helped to arrange the reception and contributed to the refreshment table.  Ralph's Katie Kakes were a big hit and I was asked to post the recipe:

Toffee-Pecan Bars (aka "Katie Kakes")
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1 cup cold butter cut into pieces
1 egg
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 (10 oz) pkg English Toffee Bits
1 cup chopped pecans

In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar: cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly.  Press into a greased 13x9x2 baking pan.  Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

In a bowl, combine the egg, milk, and vanilla; mix well.  Fold in Toffee bits and pecans.  Soon over crust.  Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.  Chill until firm. Cut before they have cooled entirely.
