Winter Reflections by Julie Riker

6x12

This was painted a few weeks ago (just after our last snowfall) at West Fairview where I met to paint with Ralph and Paul.  It started out being a sunny day, but by time we set up the skies became overcast and there was a strange pink glow on the horizon.  I saw it as a good opportunity to work on finding and emphasizing color in those dull muted tones.

I like this painting. The wide canvas made it a dramatic scene and the colors make it beautiful.

Thanks Sharon! I enjoy playing with the elongated format. It is nice to hear that you like the colors - it was a drab day so I really tried to make something of it.
