People Watching for Sharks at Nauset Beach

Johanna Monighan-Schaefer
"People Wactching for Sharks"
Watercolor, 8"x10", 2012

We had a great time on our painting trip to Cape Cod. However, the ever present danger of great whites had people stay out of of the water. On this partticular day, two sharks were sighted at Nauset Beach. They were "Danger Sharks"signs posted along the beach. People were swimming at their own risk. It all reminded me of Jaws which was taking place not too far from Nauset. I have to watch it again.

Please check out additional paintings on my website JohannaMonighanSchaefer.com.

So nice, Johanna--very sunny, colorful, and beachy.

Your title cracks me up, but it is a lovely painting. I am glad that everyone had a good time and returned with all their limbs intact.

A perfect title for a perfect painting! It was amazing that we had only been there painting such a short time when the call for 'shark sighted' rang out. A bit surreal!!!
