The sun moves, shadows change; there is only a short period of time that an artist has to capture the shifts of light and color when painting outdoors - but it is this very desire to distill the energy and freshness of nature that drives the plein air painter. Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters was formed to bring together artists who share this passion.
A few weekends ago, I found a scene I wanted to capture, but liked the view best from my kitchen window (which is second story on this side of the house). Being on the ground didn't give me the same view, so I set a ladder against my shed in the driveway, and boosted everything up! It was a bit blustery and the light faded fast. I am not posting the painting as I'm not that pleased with it, but enjoyed "the journey" none the less! Just wanted you to know I am still working at it!
