We'll Meet Here, oil en plein air, Jill Peckelun

It is January and it is cold but above freezing so I'm outside working up a small painting of these pagoda-like gazebos.  I am so attracted to their dark mystery.  They speak of far off summer weddings and celebrations of course.  But I'm attracted to their atmosphere, both welcoming and secretive.

The Day After Christmas by Julie Riker

I am finally getting around to posting about this plein air experience I had on the day after Christmas.
There is so much activity leading up to the holiday - things to make for family, friends, and clients.  I have always enjoyed the release of obligations once the holiday is over.  I woke up that morning to a blanket of fresh snow.  When the sun came out I knew what I had to do.  It was peaceful painting on this wooded path.  The only other person I saw was a woman walking her dog...probably enjoying the same sense of solitude that I was.
I wish everyone peace in the new year!
