TABLE FOR ONE By Cecelia Lyden

Le Sorelle Porch and Pantry was where I parked myself on our paintout at Mt Gretna. When I first spied this small part of the porch, there was a spot or two of sunshine on the fern and blue tablecloth. By the time I set up, the sunlight was gone. The sun was shining, but the multiple trees around me blocked it, and the sunlight never hit the porch again.

We could not have picked a more beautiful day to travel to Mt. Gretna, PA with the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters and Jeanne Hartman's Monday painting class.  The sun was shining and there was plenty of contrast with the shaded areas.  So many things to paint.  I will return because it is such a lovely spot to paint.

It was another amazingly beautiful day this past Friday. I painted at the Samuel Lewis State Park with Paul Gallo's class. We did a couple of paintings atop this hill, overlooking the Wrightsville Bridge across the Susquehanna River.

"Still Standing", Pastel, T.K.Myers

"Still Standing", 7 x 5", pastel.

Last Friday my husband took me to the company picnic what they had in Middletown.
They trying to get together every summer and have something of this sort.
We don't always go, but this will be last time, as next summer Jim is retiring, so we went.
It was long day mostly filled with eating, therefore I had to entertain myself and did
this small painting. I liked the high contrast of light and shadows and whole idea
about the victory of life -young tree growing in the middle of old stumps.
Here is my painting.

Conodoguinet Paint-Out

"Bench with Beautiful View"
8x10", oil on panel
by Susan Benigni-Landis
It was a lovely day in July for a backyard paint-out. I just wanted to capture the simplicity of this view, with a little stone bench waiting for someone to sit and enjoy it. Thanks to our hostess.

Letort Falls

It was a beautiful day to paint at Letort Falls. I finished the trees at home. Personally, I think there should be more varied color in the rocks. It is 11 x 14, oil on canvas. Would love to go back someday.

LETORT FALLS By Cecelia Lyden

I painted for four hours today, but remained cool and comfortable in the shade by the falls. This is my third painting of the falls. It is always a fun experience painting that water splashing down and over the rocks. Eight of us were there and everyone created an exciting, animated painting.

"LETORT FALLS IN AUGUST" An Original Pastel Painting by Clare Klaum

A beautiful day for a paint out at Letort Falls. Eight of our Plein Air group were there.  You hardly noticed that that temps were in the 90's in the cool shade of the trees.  The falls were soothing with the rushing sound of the water.  The bugs were a little tenacious though. Lots of bug spray needed!  I have never been there and I can see why it is such a popular spot.  Thank you Cecelia for arranging yet another great paint out!

"Keystone National Work on Paper".

Sometime ago I believe I already posted this little painting,
however I would like to share it again, as part of upcoming
"Keystone-National Work on Paper" exhibition.
I'm truly honored to have this little (8 x 10") gem juried in,
because of its Plein Air nature. Finally I'm starting to feel
that my Plein Air paintings starting catch up to my studio works,
or maybe even exceed those studio pieces.
Indeed out of my two submissions for "Keystone" Plein Air piece
took over my other studio piece..
Thank You to the Juror Laurin McCracken for
accepting "Spring House" into this beautiful show.
Looking forward to see all the art works!

"CONESTOGA HOUSE GARDENS" An Original Pastel Painting by Clare Klaum

On July 23rd several members of our group painted at the Conestoga House.  What an incredibly beautiful property! You could spend weeks painting there.  I was able to get a good start on this painting but there was warnings for a nasty thunder storm and as it got darker I had to leave.  Driving home I hit a wall of water that made it very difficult to see. But luckily it did not last long.  We had one of our Grandsons visiting last week. We kept quite busy with activities and trips.  What a joy he was, but not much time for painting. I finally was able to finish this painting today.

Sadly this was Brath & Hughes last first Friday.  They will be missed!  But I was so excited to find out that this painting sold to the Olsons who own this property where we have enjoyed several paint outs and get togethers.    Thank you so much Eric and Nancy!
