MCKEES HALF FALLS By Cecelia Lyden

oil/stretched canvas
12x16
www.cecelialyden.com

It was a hot and humid day, but not at the Falls. Abundant shade and a steady breeze kept me comfortable for the 3 hours I was there. The sky was blue, and so was the water. The clouds in my painting appeared just as I was leaving-I photographed them and added them at home.

I opened an email from The Harrisburg Art Association and saw that my painting of the view of the Susquehanna from Tish Sheldon's porch, was used to advertise the Gallery Walk in September. A nice little surprise.

Star Barn by Julie Riker

16x12 oil

I did this painting on location at the Star Barn a few weeks ago.  Many artists have painted this local icon, but I wanted to try my own rendition.  The barn will soon be moved to a private location and I wanted to paint it in it's original home.  Perhaps I will attempt another painting here before the barn is dismantled.

I am happy that this painting sold at the Saturday night Art Association Soiree.

Reflections in the Cove, 11x14 oil by Sharon Benner

I painted this morning in Codorus State Park and found this quiet cove that was lit up with bright yellow reflections.  The pink algae has begun to grow on the surface of the still waters in the coves.  I painted this with a pallet knife.  See more of my work at www.sharonbenner.com

This is from Adam's Ranch in Ft. Pierce, Fl. Oil 16 x 20. Bright sunny day but a bit hot. Painting in Florida is very nice. The air is usually wonderfully clear and breezy. You are only allowed on this ranch by invitation and I was so happy to go with an art group. it is a 40,000 acre working ranch.I really hope to go again.

"CHILDHOOD MEMORIES" An Original Acrylic Painting by Mindy Cashman (Daughter of Clare Klaum)

My daughter Mindy who lives in Virginia Beach was visiting with our 3 1/2 year old grandson this past week.  Mindy is an artist who primarily paints in acrylics.  She has never done Plein Air painting and our plan was to go together.  But with time and schedules we could not accomplish this so I stayed with our grandson and gave her some alone time to paint.  I gave her all of my plein air equipment and with her paints she set out for her adventure.  She went to one of her favorite spots that we took our kids when they were younger to go tubing down the Yellow Breeches at Messiah College.  Little did she know that some of our group was just there recently to paint.  She did a beautiful job and we hope some day to experience Plein Air painting together.  Now she has the "Plein Air bug" and hopes to do more in Virginia Beach.
