The sun moves, shadows change; there is only a short period of time that an artist has to capture the shifts of light and color when painting outdoors - but it is this very desire to distill the energy and freshness of nature that drives the plein air painter. Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters was formed to bring together artists who share this passion.

SVPAP PAINTERS
Susan, Johanna, and Felicity are making good use of the warm spring weather, producing beautiful art this past Sunday. The West Fairview boat launch was crowded with others, fishermen, boaters in addition to our group members.

Sunday was a sunny, warm day and several of us from our group, took advantage of the weather to "officially"start our plein aire painting at the West Fairview boat launch. I had only a small 8x10 canvas and, rather than painting a landscape, I opted to paint this thicket of trees, which only covered a small area. I really liked the "pinkish" sunlight hitting the trees and branches.
